Data
Download the practice file(s):
Steps
- Insert a PivotTable from the sales data on a new sheet.
- Put channel in Rows and net_sales in Values; filter Years (or order_date) to 2025.
- Right-click a value > Show Values As > % of Grand Total.
- Optional: drag net_sales into Values a second time so you see both dollars and percent side by side.
- Set the percent to 2 decimal places (Value Field Settings > Number Format > Percentage).
Check your answer
What percent of 2025 net sales came from the Online channel? (type the percent, e.g. 12.34)
Show solution
Online sales divided by total 2025 sales is about 21.37%; In-store is the other 78.63%. '% of Grand Total' does this division for you inside the pivot.
PivotTable: Rows = channel | Values = Sum of net_sales, Show Values As = % of Grand Total | Filter = Years: 2025
' Formula check (2025 only):
=SUMIFS(Table1[net_sales],Table1[channel],"Online",Table1[order_date],">="&DATE(2025,1,1),Table1[order_date],"<="&DATE(2025,12,31))
/SUMIFS(Table1[net_sales],Table1[order_date],">="&DATE(2025,1,1),Table1[order_date],"<="&DATE(2025,12,31))Answer: 21.37 %
