Bar chart (horizontal)
Best for ranking stores, products or reps. Sort largest to smallest and keep one color.
Column chart
Good for a few categories (under ~8) or short labels.
Line chart
The default for time. Put time on the x-axis and compare at most 3–4 lines.
Area chart
Use for a single series when you want to emphasize volume.
Stacked bar (100%)
Clearest way to show shares, especially across several groups.
Donut chart
Only with 2–5 slices. If slices are similar in size, use a bar chart instead.
Histogram
Shows how values spread (order sizes, delivery days). Pick a sensible bin size.
Box plot
Compare spread and outliers across groups.
Scatter plot
Two measures per item, e.g. ad spend vs revenue per campaign. Add a trend line if helpful.
KPI card
Big number + comparison (vs target or last year) + a small sparkline.
Table / matrix
When people need exact numbers. Use conditional formatting to highlight what matters.
